While we're on the way

1

Shut off the water

Find the main shut-off valve, often near the street meter or where the line enters the house. Turn it clockwise until it stops. This is the fastest way to stop a burst pipe from flooding your floors and walls.

2

Kill the power to wet areas

If water is near outlets, appliances, or your breaker panel, flip the breakers to those rooms. Don't walk through standing water to reach the panel. If you can't get there safely, wait outside and tell us when we call.

3

Open a low faucet to drain the line

After the main is off, open a faucet on the lowest floor. This lets the leftover water in the pipes drain out down there instead of gushing from the break upstairs.

4

Move what you can and grab towels

Pull rugs, electronics, and furniture away from the water. Lay down towels or a bucket under the leak. Snap a couple photos for your insurance while you're at it.

5

Call and stay reachable

Tell us what you're seeing and where the water's coming from. Keep your phone close so the plumber can reach you for gate codes, parking, or directions to the shut-off.

When the plumber pulls up, the first job is stopping the water or gas and making the area safe. From there they find the source, whether it's a cracked pipe behind a wall, a failed water heater, or a clog pushing sewage back up a drain. Camera inspection and leak locating help pin down hidden problems fast, so we're fixing the real issue and not guessing.

Some things can't wait. A burst pipe, a sewage backup, no water in the house, a water heater leaking hard, or the smell of gas all need a plumber now. Other things can be booked for a normal visit: a slow drain, a dripping faucet, a running toilet, a disposal that hums but won't turn. If you're not sure which one you've got, call and describe it. We'll tell you straight whether it's tonight or tomorrow.

On gas, be extra careful. If you smell rotten eggs or hear hissing near a gas line, don't flip switches or light anything. Get everyone out of the house, leave the door open, and call from outside. Same goes for standing water near electrical panels. Your safety comes first, the pipes come second.

We run calls across San Antonio and the surrounding towns: Alamo Heights, Stone Oak, Terrell Hills, Olmos Park, Southtown, Monte Vista, Leon Valley, Helotes, Boerne, Schertz, Converse, Universal City, Live Oak, New Braunfels, and Cibolo. Whatever hour it is, pick up the phone and a plumber will be on the way.
